Bernal Heights

Bernal Heights is family friendly neighborhood which is situated on the site of a former cow pasture and dairy. It consists of smaller Victorians that offer spectacular northern views of the city and sunny weather.

Bernal heights is located on the south of San Francisco’s Missions District, and includes the Bernal Heights Park, an undeveloped space very popular with dog walkers. Precita Park located adjacent to Bernal Heights contains a playground and large open space of mown grass for families with young children to play around.

Along Cortland Street, small, funky, spectaculars boutiques, bookstores and gift shops which constitutes the retail center of Bernal heights are situated along with ethnic restaurants ranging from French to Nepalese to Salvadoran. There are also a couple of local bars of which El Rio is the favorite and they are known to host live music; Wild Side West and its fireplace, and the down-home The Lucky Horseshoe.

Transportation locally is done through one of the numerous Muni bus lines. There is a BART station located at 24th and Mission streets and it is within walking distance from some parts of the neighborhood.
