The best Halloween block party for five-year olds in the whole of San Francisco is found on Belvedere Street, which is close to traffic, as there are no parking spots, and lures thousands of families to come walk the richly decorated blocks. Majority of the locals shop and dine at the Cole Street which is close by and situated in Cole Valley, or the markets on Parnassus Avenue and Haight Street. Golden Gate Park can easily be reached by a quick stroll.
The Buena Vista Park which is densely wooded and is situated up the stairs at Haight and Baker streets offers spectacular views of the city, the Golden Gate Bridge and Angel Island. It is a family friendly park, thanks to the local neighborhood association.
The neighborhood homes are available in many different architectural constructs to choose from including: grand Victorians, Colonial Revival, restored carriage houses, shingled Tudors, and Queen Anne towers boasting ornate scroll work, onion domes, and stained glass windows. Public transportation within the Buena Vista/Ashbury is excellent as there are numerous Muni light-rail and bus lines canvassing the neighborhood offering easy and convenient movement.
