Cow Hollow
- Property type: Neighborhood
- City: San Francisco
Details
The neighborhood Cow Hollow derived its name from an erstwhile meadow and feedlot in what used to be Spring Valley. In recent times, this upscale neighborhood of older homes situated in the middle of the Presidio and the Marina districts is recognized for its popular boutique shopping on Union Street, Italianate Manor homes and nightlife.
Old, notable homes are mingled with lustrous, midcentury modern remodels in Cow Hollow. Cottages confined in bright garden greens, attractively classic Queen Anne and Victorians, Italianate mansions and luxury condos make Cow Hollow one of the most enticing residential districts in San Francisco.
There is an abundance of deluxe eateries in Cow Hollow including the brasserie Café des Amis, neighborhood favorite Baker Street Bistro, sustainably raised beef at Roam Artisan Burgers and desserts at The Chestnut Bakery. Union Street offers upscale classy and ritzy shopping at its best. Scores of small boutiques, art galleries and jewelry stores line up Union Street and they are stocked with the latest European designer wears and trends plus designer doggie treats.
