Excelsior neighborhood is a low-key neighborhood that is ethnically diverse, boasting beautiful weather, and has easy access to public transportation on Mission Street or via the Balboa Park Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station.

The neighborhood’s chief commercial area is Persia Triangle, located at the crossroad of Ocean Avenue, Mission Street and Persia Street. Produce markets, down-home diners and ethnic restaurants are available in Excelsior. Goldilocks is known for its edible portrait cakes and Filipino cuisine. The district’s champions include Ty Sandwich, Taqueria Guadalajara, Hilda’s Mart & Bake Shop and Hawaiian Drive Inn #28.

Offering its visitors a peaceful refuge from the hustle and bustle of the city, is the John McLaren Park. The Park contains a nine-hole golf course, a lake, tennis courts and 700-seat Jerry Garcia Amphitheater. Those who walk its trails will find rolling hills, meadows and stunning vistas.
